The Maine Association of Conservation Districts

is pleased to announce a

$2,000 Scholarship

to the

University of Maine, Orono

The University of Maine at Orono will award two $2,000 scholarships to an Envirothon Team Member.

  • One scholarship will be directly to someone who is admitted to the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture, Fall 2008
  • One scholarship will be directly to someone who is admitted to the School of Forestry, College of Natural Science, Forestry and Agriculture, Fall 2008

To be considered for this scholarship award, the Envirothon Team Member must send the following information – postmarked by April 25, 2008 to:

  1. Copy of secondary school transcript

  2. Letter from Envirothon Team Advisor describing the applicant’s strongest qualities as a potential specialist in natural resources management and conservation. This letter must state that the student is, or will be, a member of an Envirothon team which the advisor is preparing for the 2008 Envirothon.

  3. A personal letter from the student – addressed to the MACD Envirothon Committee – of approximately 300 words describing the student’s interest in natural resource management and conservation.

  4. Letter of admission to the University of Maine Orono’s College of Natural Sciences, Forestry & Agriculture for the fall of 2008.

  5. The Maine Association of Conservation Districts Education & Envirothon Committee and a representative from UMO will announce the scholarship award at the State Finals on May 29 at Unity College
